Band Of The Week: Elysian

Elysian are an Australian progressive metal band who fall somewhere between Periphery and Allegaeon. There's plenty to love on Wires Of Creation between the technically proficient writing/musicianship and the spaced out atmospheric parts of the album that really give it a signature feel.

Check out the second track 'Sigma':

Elysian's djenty riffs don't feel uninspired or gimmicky, rather they seem to take a Meshuggah/Gojira route, providing a nice thick background to most songs, and help keep the tempo fast and aggressive.

Elysian's progressive melodeath sound does take a lot of inspiration from bigger bands in the genres, but the atmosphere and writing on this album really make it a treat to listen to. It's more than worth your time.

These guys only have about 3,500 likes on facebook, so go help them out. And of course get the album if you can!
